Who is Audrey Faith Perry

Who is Audrey Faith Perry ?
The world knows her as Faith Hill, Hill is an American country singer. She is known both for her commercial success and her marriage to fellow country star Tim McGraw. Hill's voice (described as both soulful and raspy)[1] and careful song selection[2] have helped her to sell more than 35 million records and accumulate 8 number-one singles and 3 number-one albums on the Country charts.

Hill has been honored by the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music, the Grammy Awards, the American Music Awards and the People's Choice Awards. Her Soul2Soul II Tour 2006 with husband McGraw became the highest-grossing country tour of all time.[3] In 2001, she was named one of the "30 Most Powerful Women in America" by Ladies Home Journal. In 2008, Faith Hill released her first Christmas album, titled Joy to the World.

Hill was born on September 21, 1967 in Ridgeland, Mississippi, near Jackson, Mississippi. She was adopted as an infant and raised by a couple in the nearby town of Star. Her adoptive parents reared their two biological sons along with Hill in a devout Christian environment.[2]

Hill's vocal talent was apparent early, and she had her first public performance, a 4-H luncheon, when she was seven.[4] In 1976, a few days before her 9th birthday, she attended a concert by Elvis Presley
at the State Fair Coliseum, in Jackson, which impressed her deeply. By the time she was a teenager, Hill was a regular performer at area churches, even those not in her own Baptist denomination.[5] At 17, Hill formed a band that played in local rodeos. She briefly attended college at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi, but at 19 quit school to move to Nashville and pursue her dream of being a country singer. In her early days in Nashville, Hill auditioned to be a backup singer for Reba McEntire,
but failed to secure the job.[2] After a stint selling T-shirts, Hill became a secretary at a music publishing firm.[4]

Apart from her quest for entry into the music industry, Hill also began working toward a more robust family life. In 1988 she married songwriter and music executive Dan Hill, who provided the surname she would use as she became famous. Her first husband was not prominent Canadian singer-songwriter Dan Hill despite the similar name.[6] Two years later, she began a search for her natural mother, whom she eventually met and with whom she corresponded until her mother's death.[7]

A co-worker heard Hill singing to herself one day, and soon the head of her music publishing company was encouraging her to become a demo singer for the firm.[4] She supplemented this work by singing backup vocals for songwriter Gary Burr, who often performed his new songs at Nashville's Bluebird Cafe. During one of those performances, an executive from Warner Bros. Records was in the audience, and, impressed with Hill's voice, began the process of signing her to a recording contract.[2]

Shortly after the release of her album, Hill found her marriage falling apart. She and Dan Hill divorced in 1994.[7]

Hill's debut album was Take Me as I Am (1993); sales were strong, buoyed by the chart success of "Wild One." Hill became the first female country singer in 30 years to hold Billboard's number one position for four consecutive weeks when "Wild One" managed the feat in 1994.[8] Her version of "Piece of My Heart", also went to the top of the country charts in 1994[4] although rock fans drew unflattering comparisons to Janis Joplin's
cover. The album sold a total of 3 million copies.[4]

The recording of Faith's second album was delayed by surgery to repair a ruptured blood vessel on her vocal cords. It Matters to Me finally appeared in 1995 and was another success, with the title track becoming her fourth number-one country single. Several other top 10 singles followed, and more than 3 million copies of the album were sold.[4] The fifth single from the album, "I Can't Do That Anymore,"

was written by country music artist Alan Jackson.

In Spring 1996, Hill began the Spontaneous Combustion Tour with country singer Tim McGraw. At that time, Hill had recently become engaged to her former producer, Scott Hendricks, and McGraw had recently broken an engagement. McGraw and Hill were quickly attracted to each other and Hill broke her engagement so that she and McGraw could begin dating. The pair became engaged on the tour and married on October 6, 1996.[7] They have three daughters together: Gracie Katherine (b. 1997), Maggie Elizabeth (b. 1998) and Audrey Caroline (b. 2001). Since their marriage, Hill and McGraw have striven to never be apart for more than three consecutive days.[2]

After the release of It Matters to Me,

Hill took a three-year break from recording to give herself a rest from four years of touring and to begin a family with McGraw. During her break, she joined forces with her husband for their first duet, "It's Your Love".[1]

The song stayed at number one for six weeks,[4] and won awards from both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. Hill has remarked that sometimes when they perform the song together, "it [doesn't] feel like anybody else was really watching."[1]

She reentered the music business in 1998 with Faith.[1] The album showcased her progression toward a more mainstream, pop-oriented sound, although it retained some country sound. "This Kiss"

became a number one country hit, and was the first of her singles to place on the pop charts, peaking at number seven. More than six million copies of the album were sold. The album also delivered several other hits including another duet with McGraw, "Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me",

and "The Secret Of Life".[4]

To follow up this newfound success, Hill immediately released Breathe, which debuted at the top of the Billboard Country and all genre charts, ahead of albums by Mariah Carey and Savage Garden.[9]
Although the album had few overt country sounds, it "complement[ed] her vocal strengths."[10] For the first time, the album consisted solely of songs about love and did not venture into the more somber territory that her previous albums had touched.[10] The title track, "Breathe", reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[9] "The Way You Love Me" hit the top 10 as well, topping out at number six on the charts, and became one of the longest-running singles in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 (57 weeks). The album won Hill three Grammy Awards including Best Country Album, Best Country Collaboration With Vocals for "Let's Make Love"

featuring Tim McGraw and Best Country Female Vocal Performance for "Breathe."[11] It also marked a step away from her girl-next-door image, as the videos and promotional pictures all portrayed a much sexier image. Breathe has sold almost 10 million copies worldwide.[12]

2000 was an especially busy year for Hill. Besides a successful tour with her husband, Hill was featured in a CBS television special, VH1's Behind the Music, VH1 Divas 2000, and the Lifetime cable channel's Intimate Portraits series.[9] She signed an endorsement deal with CoverGirl makeup,[4] performed at the Academy Awards and the Grammy Awards, appeared on the cover of numerous magazines, and performed the national anthem at the Super Bowl.[9] Hill was also named to Mr. Blackwell's 10-best dressed women of 2000, the only singer listed among actresses and other celebrities. Hill and McGraw also embarked on their first Soul2Soul tour, the "Soul2Soul Tour 2000."[13]

Musically, in 2000 Hill recorded a song for the movie Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas

The song also appeared on the pop and country charts. Hill's success on the pop charts disturbed some country music insiders, who questioned whether she was trying to dismiss her country roots and move into the pop genre. Despite the grumbling, Hill won the CMA Female Vocalist of The Year Award, and in her acceptance speech announced, "I love this business and I love this industry... and my heart is here."[9]

In 2001, Hill recorded a song for the Pearl Harbor soundtrack. "There You'll Be"

also appeared on the album There You'll Be: The Best Of Faith Hill, an international greatest hits album. The album featured some dance mixes of "Piece Of My Heart,"

"Let Me Let Go," "The Way You Love Me,"

and "Breathe."

In 2002, Hill released her new album with a more pop-oriented sound, Cry. The album "spotlight[ed] her impressive set of pipes," but also marked the completion of her "transformation into a pop diva," containing few nods to her country roots. Though the album debuted at number one on Billboard magazine's pop and country album charts,[4] and Hill made her debut as musical guest on Saturday Night Live, the album's singles (including the title track "Cry",

written and originally performed by Angie Aparo) received much less radio airplay than her previous smashes.[14] The album however, did win a Grammy Award and 3.7 million copies have been sold worldwide.[11]

Faith Hill's 2002 single "Baby You Belong"

off her Cry album was used as the theme song for the movie Lilo & Stitch. The music video featured clips from the movie as well as performance clips.

In 2005, Faith Hill returned with her new country album, Fireflies. The CD debuted on top of the Billboard Country and all genre album charts, placing her among only a handful of artists to have three consecutive albums debut at number one on both charts.[15] The debut single, "Mississippi Girl",

became Hill's highest-debuting single. The song was written specifically for her by John Rich (of Big and Rich) and Adam Shoenfield
of MuzikMafia,
and tells the abbreviated story of her life. Hill recorded two other songs by Rich, "Sunshine and Summertime"

and "Like We Never Loved at All",

both of which became successful singles.[16] The title track, "Stealing Kisses"

and "If You Ask" were written by artist Lori McKenna and also appear on McKenna's albums. The album marked a return to Hill's country roots and succeeded in reestablishing her place on country radio.[17]

In 2006, after a six-year break from touring following the birth of her youngest daughter,[2] Hill and husband Tim McGraw embarked on their Soul2Soul II Tour 2006. The tour became the highest grossing country music tour ever with a gross of $90 million.[18][3] It was named "Major Tour of the Year" by the prestigious Pollstar, beating out such heavyweights as Madonna and the Rolling Stones.

In 2007, Hill started work on her first domestic greatest hits package, titled The Hits, which was released on October 2. It contains two new tracks; "Lost"

and "Red Umbrella,"

as well as twelve addtional tracks. The album also features hits covering her entire career from 1993–2005. Included with The Hits is a DVD of 11 of Hill's music videos.[19]

She's also featured on husband Tim McGraw's 2007 album Let It Go.
She sings two duets with him, "I Need You"

and "Shotgun Rider."

Both songs were sung at the couple's critically acclaimed Soul2Soul II Tour 2006. She and Tim also did an encore of their Soul2Soul II Tour; Soul2Soul 2007 began in June and ran through August. The song I Need You has been nominated twice at the 2008 Grammy Awards for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals and Best Country Song. The show took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA on February 10, 2008 but the song didn't win.

In 2007 Faith Hill took over as the signature voice of NFL on NBC's Sunday Night Football, singing the theme song about which the show's producer said:[20]

It's not often that you get the opportunity to have a mega-star like Faith Hill perform the signature open to your show.

NBC Sunday Night Football producer Fred Gaudelli,
MSNBC

In September 2008, Hill issued her first Christmas album, titled Joy to the World. The compilation was given a positive reviews, including about.com, which gave the album four in a half out of five stars, calling the album, "a great collection of classic Christmas songs." Hill continually worked on the album two years prior to its official release. The album included one new track, "A Baby Changes Everything,"

which was released as the album's only single in late 2008.[21]

On February 1, 2009 Hill performed "America the Beautiful"

at the Super Bowl 43 pregame show. The other performers at the pregame show were Jennifer Hudson
and Journey, and Bruce Springsteen
performed at the Halftime show.[22]

Faith Hill is releasing her first fragrance by Coty in October 2009, possibly with a new album to follow. [23]

In 1996 Hill guest starred in the American television series Touched by an Angel[24] and although she was rumored to have won a part in Mel Gibson's We Were Soldiers, she did not actually appear in the movie.[25] Her movie debut came in the summer of 2004, when Hill co-starred with Nicole Kidman, Matthew Broderick
and Glenn Close
in director Frank Oz's
remake of the 1975 thriller The Stepford Wives.[26] However, the movie was savaged by critics[27] [28][29] and flopped at the box office,[30] and Hill has not made another acting appearance since.

Hill used her 1999 tour to support a national children's book drive. Fans who donated books at one of her concerts were entered into a drawing to meet her personally after the show.[31] The effort resulted in the donation of 35,000 children's books, which were distributed to hospitals, schools, libraries, and daycare centers in 40 cities across the United States.[32]

In the days immediately following Hurricane Katrina, Hill and her husband, who was raised in Louisiana, joined groups taking supplies to Gulfport, Mississippi. The two also hosted several charity concerts to benefit those who were displaced by the storm.[33] Later in the year the couple established the Neighbor's Keeper Foundation, which provides funding for community charities to assist with basic humanitarian services in the event of a natural disaster or for desperate personal circumstances. In a special gesture, the couple also donated profits from their performance in New Orleans to Hurricane Katrina relief.[34]

Who is Jonathan Mortimer Smith

Who is Jonathan Mortimer Smith?[1][2] The Rap world knows him by his stage name Lil Jon, Jon is an American producer, promoter, and rapper. He is best known as a pioneer of the hip hop sub-genre crunk. His work is recognizable by his distinctive hype shouts of "what?!","hey!", "yeah!", and "okay!".* Lil Jon started off his career with DJ'ing at a night club in Pheonix. Lil Jon became a huge rapper when a guy named, Jermaine Dupri thought he had a lot of talent and got him into the music business. In March of 2011, Lil Jon will be a part of the fourth season of The Celebrity Apprentice on NBC. [3]

Lil Jon came out with his first album with the East Side Boyz, Get Crunk, in 1997. Although he became a huge rapper, staring on the show "Pimp My Ride", Lil Jon was thought to be a geeky nerd in high school.

Lil Jon was born January 27, 1971 and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Douglass High School in 1989. He worked for So So Def between 1993 and 2000, which is where he got his stage name Lil Jon.[2]
Lil Jon is a big fan of the Atlanta Thrashers of the NHL[3] and writes a blog on NHL.com.[4] He has also stated on the blog that his son plays hockey. Atlanta Thrashers goalie Kari Lehtonen also has a picture of Lil Jon on the back of his helmet.[5] He also has his own energy drink, called CRUNK!!![6], and has his own line of Oakley Sunglasses.[7]

Lil Jon says that he "was inspired by the synthesizer sounds of rave/dance music he heard playing in Atlanta strip clubs".[8]
Before recording the album, Lil Jon severed his negotiation with record label TVT. Two years ago, Jon vowed never to record for TVT Records again, alleging that TVT owner Steve Gottlieb was shortchanging him.[9]
After a long battle and negotiations with TVT, we worked out our differences. TVT cut the check and now it's time for me to get back to work.[9]
Jon said in a statement: "Crunk Rock is going to be some next level shit".[9]
As part of TVT Records' 2008 bankruptcy auction, Lil Jon withdrew his multi-million dollar objection to the TVT sale proceedings and agreed to TVT’s transfer of his artist agreement to The Orchard. In return, The Orchard released Lil Jon from all future compulsions and returned the rights to the master recordings of his constantly delayed LP, Crunk Rock.[10]

Lil Jon was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He lived in Bridgeport, Connecticut for a short time and many of his earliest influences stem from his time there. He attended Douglass High School, and later graduated from the Ohio State University in 1993, moving back to Atlanta to officially begin his music career.[4] He worked for So So Def Recordings between 1993 and 2000.[5] The group signed to the Atlanta-based Mirror Image Records and were distributed by Ichiban Records. In 1997, Lil' Jon & the East Side Boyz debuted with Get Crunk, Who U Wit: Da Album. It included singles "Who U Wit?" and "Shawty Freak a Lil' Sumthin'", the latter of which came out in 1998. Both singles charted on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at #70 and #62 respectively.[6] Under BME Recordings, the group followed in 2000 with We Still Crunk, and scored a hit with "I Like Dem Girlz", which reached #55 on the R&B chart and #3 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz signed to TVT Records in 2001 and debuted there with Put Yo Hood Up, which combined previously released tracks with new ones. The group's first nationally played single was "Bia' Bia'", a song written about and dedicated to Lil' Jon's girlfriend at the time. It featured rappers Ludacris, Too Short, Big Kapp, and Chyna Whyte.[2] "Bia' Bia'" peaked at #97 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #47 on the Billboard R&B chart.[6]
In 2002, the group released Kings of Crunk. "I Don't Give A..." was its first single; it featured Mystikal and Krayzie Bone and peaked at #50 on the R&B chart.[6] The group's next single, a collaboration with fellow Atlanta hip hop group Ying Yang Twins titled "Get Low", became popular in nightclubs nationwide and reached the top ten of the Hot 100.Crunk Juice followed in 2004, led by "What U Gon' Do" featuring Lil' Scrappy. "What U Gon' Do" peaked at #22 on the Hot 100, #13 on the R&B chart, and #5 on the rap chart; its follow-up, "Lovers & Friends" featuring Usher and Ludacris, peaked at #3 (Hot 100), #2 (R&B), and #1 (rap).[6]

Solo Career and Production

In addition to leading Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz, Lil' Jon has also produced many hit urban singles. From 2003 to 2005, while still with The East Side Boyz, Lil' Jon produced hits like "Salt Shaker" by Ying Yang Twins, "Yeah!" by Usher, "Freek-a-Leek" by Petey Pablo, "Shorty Wanna Ride" by Young Buck, "Shake That Monkey" by Too Short, "Let's Go" by Trick Daddy, and "Girlfight" by Brooke Valentine.[2] Lil' Jon entered the San Francisco Bay Area hyphy music scene in 2006 with his collaborations with Bay Area rapper E-40: Lil' Jon produced E-40's single "Tell Me When To Go" and had E-40 and Atlanta rapper Sean P on his own "Snap Yo Fingers".[7]
In 2006, Lil' Jon severed his negotiation with record label TVT. He vowed never to record for TVT Records again, alleging that TVT owner Steve Gottlieb was shortchanging him.[8] He also began recording a rock music album, Crunk Rock; in May 2006 he began recording in Las Vegas, Nevada because rock band The Killers was recording its upcoming album Sam's Town there and the East Side Boyz signs and new deal with Rick Robinson aka Double R CEO and Founder of iMG Recordings which the album got pushed back to 2011 and the first single is with T-Pain ,.[9]
After a long battle and negotiations with TVT, we worked out our differences. TVT cut the check and now it's time for me to get back to work.[8]
MTV News reported in March 2008 that Crunk Rock was taking more time to complete than Lil' Jon already planned.[10] As part of TVT Records' 2008 bankruptcy auction, Lil' Jon withdrew his multi-million dollar objection to the TVT sale proceedings and agreed to TVT’s transfer of his artist agreement to The Orchard. In return, The Orchard released Lil' Jon from all future obligations and returned the rights to the master recordings of Crunk Rock' Crunk Rock features artists such as LMFAO, Soulja Boy, Ying Yang Twins, Waka Flocka Flame and Aaron Shaw'.[11]

Musical style

Jason Birchmeier of allmusic has described Lil' Jon's production as "bass-heavy" and his album Put Yo Hood Up as having "a long and varied list of guest rappers to accompany the beats". With the guest performers featured on that album much more than the East Side Boyz, Birchmeier remarked: "[T]he end result is an album that resembles a street-level mixtape rather than a traditional artist-oriented album".[12] Alex Henderson, also of allmusic, contrasted Lil' Jon's style of "rowdy, in-your-face, profanity-filled party music" with other Southern rappers', those who "have a gansta/thug life agenda" and those who convey "serious sociopolitical messages".[13] Lil' Jon has also found influence in rock music, having worked with Rick Rubin and Korn.[14] For Trick Daddy's "Let's Go", Lil' Jon sampled the bass line from Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train".[9].

Other endeavors

Lil' Jon has his own energy drink, called CRUNK!!!, which was launched with Sidney Frank in 2002, after Frank's Grey Goose company had sponsored hip hop tours which included Lil' Jon.[15][16] When Frank died, former Kimberly-Clark executive Tom Mahlke took over as chief executive, and during 2008 the drink took an estimated $15 million in sales.[15] He launched his own line of Oakley Sunglasses in 2004,[17] and his own brand of wine, Little Jonathan Winery, which produces a Merlot, a Chardonnay, and a Cabernet Sauvignon.[18][19]
Lil' Jon and his group also worked on a series of pornography releases, with the Lil' Jon and The East Side Boyz American Sex Series released in 2004.[20]
In 2008, Lil' Jon was reported by Forbes to have received a total income of 11 million US Dollars.[21]

Personal life

In 2004, Lil Jon was married.[22] Lil Jon is a fan of Atlanta Thrashers, a hockey team of the NHL[23] and writes a blog on the NHL website NHL.com.[24] On the blog, he has stated that his son plays hockey. Former Atlanta Thrashers goalie Kari Lehtonen once had a picture of Lil' Jon on the back of his helmet.[25], Lil Jon has one known son. On October 30th 2010 Lil Jon performed his first live DJ set in Seattle as a headliner at the annual Freaknight event.

    Who is K-Ci & JoJo?

Who is K-Ci & JoJo? They are an American R&B duo, consisting of brothers Cedric "K-Ci" Hailey (born September 2, 1969) and Joel "JoJo" Hailey (born June 10, 1971). Natives of Wingate, North Carolina, they were also members of the chart-topping R&B group Jodeci with the DeGrate brothers—Donald (better known as DeVante Swing) and Dalvin.

When they were children, K-Ci and JoJo grew up singing in a Pentecostal church, (Church of God in Christ). As teenagers, they met Donald DeGrate, Jr.
(DeVante Swing) and Dalvin DeGrate (Mr. Dalvin). All four members openly talked about performing in a group.
When DeVante was 16, he journeyed to Minneapolis to join Prince's organization, but he was turned down. He then asked K-Ci and JoJo to join him in New York to shop demo tapes around featuring his production skills and their singing. Dalvin decided to tag along at the last minute. Soon thereafter, Heavy D
got his hands on a tape and passed it on to Uptown Records CEO Andre Harrell, who made arrangements to sign the group, who called themselves Jodeci.
    Sean "Puffy" Combs
was credited for creating the group's gritty, hard-edged looks, and for helping develop the group's new jack swing-styled sound for their debut album Forever My Lady.

In 1992, DeVante formed the Swing Mob, a group of artists, songwriters, and producers that took part in their later albums. Jodeci released three albums, but in 1996 the group went on an indefinite hiatus (the group never formally split up). Jodeci is credited with starting the musical careers of Missy Elliott, Timbaland,
    and Ginuwine.

K-Ci and JoJo's first sign of independence came in 1994 when K-Ci covered Bobby Womack's hit "If You Think You're Lonely Now"

for the movie Jason's Lyric. Early in 1996, K-Ci and JoJo teamed up for the song "How Could You" for the movie Bulletproof
starring Damon Wayans and Adam Sandler.

By July 1996, K-Ci and JoJo finally had a hit on their hands as guest artists in 2Pac's number-one R&B hit "How Do U Want It".

It also topped the Billboard Hot 100. The brothers made their side projects into a full album, Love Always. Released on June 17, 1997, the album spawned two top-ten R&B hits: "You Bring Me Up"

, "All My Life" was the number-one song on the Hot 100 for three weeks, a feat that K-Ci and JoJo had never achieved with Jodeci. Future singles and albums would be crafted in the vein of "All My Life", which was the duo's only number-one hit. Love Always went on to sell four million copies, and the success of the album put Jodeci's reunion on hold indefinitely.
Their second album. It's Real. was released on June 22, 1999. It spawned one major hit "Tell Me It's Real"

which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard's R&B charts. The "Club Asylum Steppers" remix of Tell Me It's Real has proven extremely popular within the UK Garage scene.

K-Ci and JoJo returned with X on December 5, 2000. "X", the Roman numeral for ten, was picked as the album title to celebrate the Haileys' tenth anniversary in the music business. They made a strong return to the Billboard Hot 100 early in 2001 with the song "Crazy",

also included on the Save the Last Dance
    soundtrack. "Crazy"

peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100.
The fourth K-Ci and JoJo album, Emotional, was released on November 26, 2002, but did not find commercial success. K-Ci and JoJo released a greatest hits album on February 8, 2005.
    In late 2006 K-Ci
released his debut solo album entitled My Book. He released single the single

"I apologize" it received some radio play but was not a block buster hit.
