Who is Jessica Hahn?

Who is Jessica Hahn? The entertainment world knew her for her 15 minutes of fame with her sex scandal, Hahn is an American model and actress. She is best known for a sex scandal involving televangelist Jim Bakker while she was employed as a church secretary.

Jim Bakker scandal

Hahn she first came to public attention following Bakker's announcement on March 19, 1987 that he was stepping down as head of PTL and Heritage USA, pending the imminent disclosure of the sexual encounter. According to Hahn, on the afternoon of December 6, 1980, when she was a 21-year-old church secretary, she was drugged and raped by Bakker and another preacher, John Wesley Fletcher, for "about 15 minutes."[1] In his 1997 book, I Was Wrong, Bakker disputed Hahn's account, claiming that he was "set up" and that the sex was consensual.[2]

Acting and modelling career

After the public revelation of the Bakker scandal, Hahn posed for Playboy magazine pictorials and videos and appeared in several television shows, including Married... with Children.

Personal life

Hahn was  born July 7, 1959 in Massapequa, New York. She had a relationship with comedian Sam Kinisonand appeared in his music video for "Wild Thing" in 1988. From 1991, she had a relationship with the co-creator of Married...with Children, Ron Leavitt, which continued until Leavitt's death in 2008.[3]

Jessica Hahn appeared on the View February 22, 2010 and embarrass Barbara Walters on national TV. Sherri Shepherd asked Hahn to talk about the "affair she has with Jim Bakker." Hahn apparently took offense and turned the question around on Walters.
"This wasn't an affair," she said. "Unlike, I don't want to be cruel or anything, in your book 'Audition,' you had an affair with a senator."
Like the skilled interviewer she is, Babs turned it right back around to Hahn. "This is about you, my dear. This is not about me, OK?"

Hahn was referring to Walters' admission in her autobiography that she had an affair with Massachusetts Sen. Edward Brooke in the 1970s. At the time, Brooke was the first African-American popularly elected to the Senate, and Walters was a rising star in network news.

Who is Kevin Hart?

Who is Kevin Hart? The entertainment and acting world knows him American actor and comedian. Hart began his career by winning several amateur comedy competitions at clubs throughout New England, culminating in his first real break in 2000 when he was cast by Judd Apatow for a recurring role on the TV series Undeclared. The series lasted only one season, but he soon landed other roles in movies like Paper Soldiers, Scary Movie 3, Think Like a Man, Little Fockers and Soul Plane. His comedic reputation continued to grow with the release of his first stand-up album I'm a Grown Little Man in 2008. This was followed by Seriously Funny in 2010, and in 2011 Laugh at My Pain. He currently stars as himself in the lead role of Real Husbands of Hollywood.[3]

Early life

Kevin Hart was born on July 6, 1979, in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was raised by his single mother, Nancy, and has one older brother, Robert Hart. His father, Henry, a cocaine addict, was in and out of jail throughout most of Kevin's childhood. Kevin used his natural ability to make people laugh as a coping mechanism to deal with his family struggles and to stay out of trouble.[4] After attending George Washington High School in Northeast Philadelphia, he moved to New York City to attend community college,[5] graduating two years later. He then moved to Brockton, Massachusetts and found work as a shoe salesman. He began pursuing a career in stand-up comedy after performing at an amateur night at a club in Philadelphia.[6]

Stand-up career

Hart's first gig was at The Laff House in Philadelphia under the name of Lil Kev, which didn't go well.[7] His career suffered a slow start, as he was booed off stage several times, once even having a piece of chicken thrown at him.[8] After those initial unsuccessful shows, Hart began entering comedy competitions throughout Massachusetts, and his fortunes soon turned for the better.[5]
It took time for Hart to develop a unique comedic style. After an early period of attempting to imitate comedians like Chris Tucker, he found his own rhythm by delving into his insecurities and life experiences. "Because of what I do, it has to be an open book," he has said. "But right now this is a book that is being written."[8]
Hart draws his inspiration from role models like fellow Philadelphian Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, and Dave Chappelle.[8] He strives to combine the best qualities of all these men into his own act. "When you talk about your flaws, people gravitate towards you," Hart said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. "I'm just not that manly man." This humility may be somewhat attributed to his short stature, since he is only five feet, four inches tall.[2]
Hart's comedy tours began in 2009 with his act titled "I'm a Grown Little Man," followed by "Seriously Funny" in 2010, "Laugh At My Pain" in 2011, and most recently, his TV special titled "Let Me Explain" in 2013.[7] Hart grossed over $15 million from "Laugh At My Pain," making it one of the year's top-selling comedy tours.[4] Hart also has a game available through iTunes called "Little Jumpman." His Facebook page, Twitter account, and YouTube channel are all connected to and accessible through this app.[6] Most overseas fans of Hart discovered him on YouTube, as well.[9]
It was announced in October 2013 that ABC will be making a 30 minute pilot based on Hart's stand-up act. Hart does not plan to star in the sitcom, but does plan on having a recurring role.[10]

Personal life

On May 22, 2003, Hart married Torrei Hart and they had two children, Heaven Leigh and Hendrix. In February 2010 the couple filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Hart requested joint custody; looking to prevent Torrei from receiving [11]  money in the divorce, due to the fact that she is a comedian herself with sufficient income to support herself. The pair's relationship troubles have made their way into both of their stand-up acts. Even though negative remarks were made about one another during the course of the divorce proceedings, Hart says there are no hard feelings, stating, "We just didn't work out, but we're friends."
Hart's relationship with his father is much better now that the latter has recovered from his addiction. He said in an interview with The New York Times, "My dad said I was supposed to be on drugs. I was like, 'Dad, shut up,' but then I thought about it, and it was stupid, but it made sense. He was saying that basically he was my example to never go down that road."[7]
Hart also talks about his mother in his stand-up routine, portraying her as a loving, yet intimidating woman. In 2006 she succumbed to cancer.[7]
On April 14, 2013, Hart was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after his black Mercedes nearly collided with a tanker truck on a Southern California freeway. Hart failed a field sobriety test and was booked for misdemeanor DUI.[12] On August 5, 2013, Hart was sentenced to three years’ probation after pleading no contest to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol.[13]

Awards and honors

In 2005, he was nominated for the BET Platinum Mic Viewers' Choice Award.
In 2012 Hart was named MVP of the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game regardless of the fact that he was ejected in the fourth quarter for cursing at the referee and taking off one of his shoes and throwing the other across the court. He scored eight points and had six assists in the game.[14]
Hart then hosted the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. His longtime friend Judd Apatow, the director who gave him his first big on-screen break in the TV series Undeclared, was the one who recommended him for the gig.[2] Hart hopes that this will project him further into a side career as an emcee, stating, "Hopefully after MTV, of course we’re talking Emmys, Oscars, whatever."[7]
In 2012, Hart won a Best Actor trophy at the BET Awards for his performance in the box-office hit movie Think Like a Man.

Who is Wanda Sykes?

Who is Wanda Sykes? The entertainment and acting world knows her as an American writer, stand-up comedian and actress. She earned the 1999 Emmy Award for her writing on The Chris Rock Show. In 2004 Entertainment Weekly named her as one of the 25 funniest people in America.[2]
She is well known for her role as Barb on The New Adventures of Old Christine and for her appearances on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. In November 2009 The Wanda Sykes Show, her own late-night talkshow, premiered on Fox, airing Saturday nights.[3][4][5] Sykes is openly lesbian, and has two children with her wife, Alex.[1]

Early life

Sykes was born March 7, 1964  in Portsmouth, Virginia, and raised in the Washington, D.C., area. Her father served as a US Army colonel employed at the Pentagon, and her mother worked as a banker. She attended Arundel High School[6] in Gambrills, Maryland, and went on to graduate from Hampton University[6] where she earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing. After college, her first job was as a procurement officer with the National Security Agency (NSA),[6][7] where she worked for five years.[8]

Career

Not completely satisfied with her role with the NSA, Sykes began her stand-up career at a Coors Light Super Talent Showcase in Washington, DC, where she performed for the first time in front of a live audience in 1987.[8][9] She continued to hone her talents at local venues while at the NSA until 1992, when she moved to New York City.[8] Her first big break came when opening for Chris Rock at Caroline's Comedy Club.[8] In 1997, she joined the writing team on The Chris Rock Show and also made many appearances on the show.[9] The writing team was nominated for four Emmys, and in 1999, won for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music, or Comedy Special. Since that time, she has appeared in such films as Pootie Tang and on TV shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm. In 2003, she starred in her own short-lived Fox network sitcom, Wanda at Large. The same year, Sykes appeared in an hour-long Comedy Central special, Tongue Untied. That network also ranked her #70 on its list of the 100 greatest all-time stand ups. She served as a correspondent for HBO's Inside the NFL, hosted Comedy Central's popular show Premium Blend, and voiced a recurring character named Gladys on Comedy Central's puppet show Crank Yankers. She also had a short-lived show on Comedy Central called Wanda Does It.
In addition to her film and television work, she is also an author. She wrote Yeah, I Said It, a book of humorous observations on various topics, published in September 2004.

In 2006, she landed a recurring role on the sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine; she became a series regular in the second season. She also guest starred in the Will & Grace episode "Buy, Buy Baby" in 2006. She provided voices for the 2006 films Over the Hedge, Barnyard, and Brother Bear 2. She had a part in My Super Ex-Girlfriend and after playing in Evan Almighty, had a bit part in License to Wed. Sykes' first HBO Comedy Special, entitled Wanda Sykes: Sick & Tired, premiered on October 14, 2006; it was nominated for a 2007 Emmy Award.[10] In 2008, she performed as part of Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Tour for LGBT rights.
In October 2008, Wanda Sykes appeared in a television ad for the Think Before You Speak Campaign, an advertising campaign by GLSEN aimed at curbing homophobic slang in youth communities. In the 30-second spot, she uses humor to scold a teenager for saying "that's so gay" when he really means "that is so bad."[11][12]
In March 2009, it was announced that Sykes would be the host of a new late-night talk show on Saturdays on Fox, The Wanda Sykes Show which was scheduled to premiere November 7, 2009.[13][14] In April 2009, she was named in Out magazine's Annual Power 50 List, landing at number 35.[15]

In May 2009, Sykes was the featured entertainer for the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner, becoming both the first African American woman and the first openly LGBT person to get the role. Cedric the Entertainer had been the first African American to become the featured entertainer in 2005. At this event, Sykes made controversial headlines as she responded to conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh's comments regarding President Barack Obama. Limbaugh, in reference to Obama's presidential agenda, had said "I hope he fails". In response, Sykes quipped: "I hope his [Limbaugh's] kidneys fail."[16]
Sykes' third comedy special, Wanda Sykes: I'ma Be Me premiered on HBO in October 2009.[14] November 2009 saw the premier of The Wanda Sykes Show, which starts with a monologue and continues with a panel discussion in a similar format to Bill Maher's shows Real Time with Bill Maher and Politically Incorrect.
Sykes will be appearing as Miss Hannigan in a professional theatre production of "Annie" at The Media Theatre in Media, PA, a suburb 25 minutes southwest of Philadelphia. Sykes will be appearing from November 23-December 12, 2010, and again from January 12-23, 2011. This will be Sykes' first appearance in a musical.[14]

Awards

Sykes was nominated for three Primetime Emmys and in 1999 won the Emmy for "Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special." In 2001, she won the American Comedy Award for "Outstanding Female Stand Up Comic". She won three more Emmys, in 2002, 2004 and 2005 , for her work on “Inside the NFL” for “Outstanding Studio Show - Weekly- Inside The NFL" followed by a Comedy Central Commie Award for "Funniest TV Actress in 2003."[17]
Wanda Sykes officially came out of the closet on Saturday November 15, 2008. The Comedienne revealed that she married her long-time partner Alex Sykes shortly before the passage of Proposition 8 banning gay marriage in the state of California.
